Dave Rush
Owner and Pilot
Dave was born and grew up here in Alaska. As the son of a State Trooper, the family moved around the state from the Matanuska Valley to the Kenai Penninsula, and eventually settled in Anchorage. Dave's love of flying probably began as early as the first grade when the family lived a block from the old Wasilla Airport in the heart of town. He remembers the thrill of watching the planes take off and land, and just being around those planes parked on the old grass/dirt strip. After college Dave purchased an old Piper Colt and began his flight training. In 1992 he received his private pilot's license. In 2008, after always wanting to be a commercial pilot, he left his job and went to flight school. By early 2009 he had received his commercial single & multiengine, and instrument ratings. In late 2010 Dave found the perfect opportunity to pursue his love of flying and purchased Homer Air. Now Dave lives in beautiful Homer where everywhere you fly, its spectacular!.

Homer is a city located in Kenai Peninsula Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. One of Homer's nicknames is "the cosmic hamlet by the sea"; another is "the end of the road". A popular local bumper sticker characterizes the town as "Homer - A quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem."
Tiller digs indicate that early Alutiq people probably camped in the Homer area although their villages were on the far side of Kachemak Bay.
Coal was discovered in the area in the 1890s. The Cook Inlet Coal Fields Company built a town, dock, coal mine, and a railroad at Homer. Coal mining in the area continued until World War II.
Homer was named for Homer Pennock, a gold mining company promoter, who arrived in 1896 on the Homer Spit and built living quarters for his crew of 50 men. However, gold mining was never profitable in the area.
Homer has long been known as the "halibut fishing capital of the world" and halibut and salmon sport fishing, along with other tourism, commercial fishing, and logging are the dominant industries in the Homer area.

Homer Air is an Alaskan owned, FAA licensed Air Carrier operating since 1954.
We love Alaska and love providing air service to Homer, the surrounding communities and wilderness that comprise it.
Homer Air is committed to safety and service whether you are interested in flight seeing, traveling across the Kachemak Bay to Seldovia, Port Graham or Nanwalek, or partaking in world-class bear viewing and beach landings on the coast of Katmai National Park. Our goal is to provide you with a safe and enjoyable flying experience.
History of Homer Air
Homer Air proudly celebrated its 50th Anniversary in August of 2004. We began flying the Kachemak Bay area in 1954 before a paved runway had ever been constructed in Homer. Most the surrounding villages were without a runway at all.
Ownership of Homer Air has changed hands a few times over the years while remaining an important part of the City of Homer, and a vital link to the communities across the Kachemak Bay. Homer Air is now owned by Dave Rush, a native to Alaska, and is operated by a great crew of professionals from around the world who love to live and fly in Alaska.
To this day we maintain a commitment to safety and service that keeps Homer Air strong and flying forward into the future.
